About Us

The BayTEC Alliance (the "Alliance") is a non-profit collaboration of individuals from the public sector, the private sector, academia and the community at large. The Alliance was founded on the belief that every one of us can make a difference in the quality of life in the Oroville Butte County region.

Its aim is to engage the spirit, hopes and dreams of the people in the region. The Alliance was formed to help drive the transformation of the Oroville Butte County region forward to a community that is thriving economically, socially, environmentally and culturally.

The BayTEC Alliance Vision

The Alliance envisions an Oroville region positioned for maximum achievement of its full economic, educational, social, recreational and cultural potential over the next 50 years through innovation, education, technology and entrepreneurial development - all focused on sustainability.

The BayTEC Alliance Mission

The mission of the BayTEC Alliance is to compete aggressively and successfully for jobs, talent and capital for the Oroville Butte County Region and to ensure that the region is a premier place for all people to live, work, play and raise a family.

The BayTEC Initiative

The first initiative adopted by the Alliance is to build a healthy, sustainable Oroville regional economy based on "clean" technology and to provide an excellent quality of life for the entire community. This initiative represents the first step on the path to realization of the BayTEC Alliance vision.

BayTEC Process

1. Create.

The objective of the BayTEC Alliance is to create in the Oroville region a sustainable and robust economy based on emerging growth industries, particularly those in the cleantech segment. The ideas is to establish in the region a social, political and regulatory environment that will be highly conducive to the growth of these new industries. That objective will be achieved by creating new avenues of regional cooperation and collaboration among the local public, private and nonprofit organizations.

2. Nurture.

The BayTEC Alliance aims to first grow the local economy organically through workforce preparedness and small business incubation. That means aligning university and other worker training programs with the needs of emerging industries, and leveraging the region’s assets to spark new innovation and native business start-ups.

3. Attract.

And to seed the formation of vital and thriving industrial “clusters,” leaders of the BayTEC Alliance are committed to aggressively pursuing strategic companies from around the nation and the world. These strategic acquisitions will be intended to spawn new job growth both directly and indirectly; they will add jobs to the economy but also stimulate a local job response in the surrounding supply chain and service sectors.
